Meet the team
Nelia:

I have a passion to serve others. I studied speech therapy (2010) and occupational therapy (2017) at Stellenbosch University. The most of my OT career had been spent in a public hospital where I was assigned to hand (or orthopaedic) patients. This included anything from basic fractures to severe tendon injuries. It offered me much exposure and the opportunity to grow in the area of hand therapy.
I am currently in the process of furthering my studies in hand therapy with the Virtual Hand and Shoulder Fellowship (VHSF). Hand therapy requires problem-solving and manual skills; both are skills which I pride myself in.
I also enjoy other areas of occupational therapy; such as the rehabilitation of other physical injuries, acquired disabilities or recovery after illness. I am thankful for the opportunity to walk aside others who need help and like to celebrate their victories during the therapy process.
Apart from work; I enjoy time with my family and spending time outdoors (in the mountains, rivers and at the seaside).
Monique:
I have a B.Comm degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Cape Town as well as an Occupational therapy degree at the University of the Free State. I spent a year in the Rural Eastern Cape for my community service and then moved to Riversdale in 2017 where I started a private practice in adult rehabilitation.
This unusual educational background that gives me a unique edge at work. I have undergone rigorous training in both soft and hard skills which gives me a balanced, interdisciplinary approach to solving problems and interacting and communicating with others.
In 2022 our practice has been involved in a brand-new psychiatric unit in Stilbaai. It has been a wonderful journey getting involved in Psychiatry and this has become my new favourite field of practice. I also enjoy doing driving assessments, working with geriatric clients with Dementia and neuro-rehab.
Besides my work, I love gardening, painting, reading and spending time with my family.
